SUPPORTING INDEPENDENT EDUCATION

Profits from Toya Home Services go towards supporting The Little Red Schoolhouse, an Japanese-English bilingual Steiner-Waldorf school in the Toya village. This is a Free School independently set up in order to provide holistic education for primary-aged children in the community, honing their imagination and creativity. We support the school and three teachers in teaching farming (at ths school and a separate rice paddy rented from a local rice farmer), eurythmy, handwork, and special needs education.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

The warmth and kindness of the people give so much soul to this small community. Japanese people are known to open their homes in times of natural disaster to help those in need. In Lake Toya and the surrounding areas, there are active volcanoes that erupt, earthquakes and tsunami that occur from time to time. We hosted coastal evacuees from the tsunami that resulted from the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Kamchatka, Russia in Aug 2025. We hope that you will join us in opening our homes if there are ever any emergency evacuations.

In an officially declared emergency, with our clients' consent, we would offer the homes under our care to temporarily shelter any evacuees who could not return to their own homes, until the emergency is lifted.Toya Home Services would ensure that your home remains well cared for as if it were our own. It is one way for us to give back and maintain the spirit, resilience, and well-being of our small communities.
